Feels like a more value-for-money Burnt Ends!
- The brioche anchiovies is a great appetiser if you like anchiovies. Good mix of textures and flavors, especially the amazing butter sauce.
- The beetroot dish is another amazing dish. Cold olive ice cream with a strong hint of smokiness. Strawberry, beetroot, cream and a healthy sprinkle of olive oil. My favorite plate for the night.
- The patatas bravas looks beautiful despite being just potatoes and sauce. Crispy layered potatoes? Hook me up!
- The leek with hazlenut and sauce looks dope. I would order it next time. Notice the trend, the vegetable dishes are the gems in the menu!
- The japanese aubergine is another flavorful dish that has hints of a japanese black sesame cracker. The quince is prepared in a way I have not tried before.
- The paella is ok. Very strong squid ink and seafood flavor, one of the strongest I have tried in fact. The rice is also cooked to the right doneness. No socorrat though. The carabinero prawn is a real treat, but be prepared to pay quite a bit for it.
- The roasted lamb is cooked so well, well seasoned, and has the best red wine sauce of the night. It was thick and velvety smooth, probably from to the substantial caramelization and sauce reduction. The foamy cheese sauce is meh.
- Great deconstructed lemon pie dessert. Smooth meringue, acidic lemon curd, refreshing coconut yogurt ice cream, scented green tea crisp and white chocolate crumble. Truth be told, the dish is defined by acid and sweetness, so any subtle flavor is lost to the overpowering curd. Suggestion? Try each component alone instead of trying to eat everything together.
- Petite four was ok. I liked the mini passion fruit tart in particular.
Overall, an enjoyable dinner that I would not hesitate to try again especially if I crave burnt ends but do not wish to bother with impossible reservations.
