Unfortunately, today is the day I messed up. The soy sauce fish settled once and for all that sometimes, a dish can taste worse than the sum of its parts. The sauce tasted like a braised pork belly dish; the fish was grilled to perfection; the vegetable is crisp and sweet. Yet, when eaten together, there was a taste dissonance that I could not wrap my head around.
Reminder to self – stick to the classic in the future.
