There it is, my childhood in a bowl. But alas, I must have outgrown it finally.
Banana split is a Swensen’s/diner classic. It comes with one scoop of strawberry, chocolate and vanilla ice cream each. Toppings include the signature wafer, the chemical-red cherry, and the over-whipped cream with chocolate sprinkles. The best part of the sundae isn’t the banana surprisingly, but the chocolate and peanut toppings.
My main reason to eat a Swensen’s sundae these days over the artisanal offerings is because of the nostalgia. It has been more than 10 years since I have eaten at Swensen’s and frankly, the taste of the sundae has not changed one bit. However, at $15+ after GST and service, it is getting harder and harder to justify eating this over a simpler but tastier scoop elsewhere.
